The problem
The monitoring Centre of the Lazio Region (CEREMSS) supports and monitors the running of regional Road Safety, thanks to its in-depth knowledge of the accident phenomenon and related factors and the planning of interventions and performance review.
In particular, the following problems have been encountered:
- The lack of complete and accurate road accident data and their precise localisation on the different road networks hinders any full understanding of the phenomenon;
- Very often the road accident and road element databases, as well as the vehicle flows, do not interact and the problems are examined disjointedly;
- The policy-makers of the structures affected and the technicians do not have the detailed information and support instruments for in-depth analyses of the phenomenon, an understanding of the risk factors and the planning of mitigation interventions.
Our approach
CEREMSS is the connecting point of data and information coming from road accidents, infrastructures, vehicle flows and territorial factors. The open access CEREMSS portal enables the dissemination of data processing and analyses with the aim of raising citizen awareness on road safety issues.
The Private Part of CEREMSS is reserved for:
- local Police Forces equipped with a system for data collection and accident localisation;
- managers, professionals and technicians that by means of the Safety Manager functionality can carry out in-depth analyses, understand risk factors, plan and design road safety actions.
