The problem
The Municipal Road Safety Plan of Roma Capitale identified the stretches of road and intersections characterised by maximum risk conditions.
The project consisted in carrying out safety inspections (RSI) on these stretches/intersections and security checks (RSA) on projects for the improvement of the road network of Roma Servizi per la Mobilità Srl, in an attempt to adapt the Guidelines of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport focussing on the suburban context to the urban context.
Our approach
For the purposes of adapting the ministerial guidelines to the urban context and, in particular, to that of Roma Capitale, a procedure was developed to be followed for the implementation of Road Safety Inspection and Integrated Auditing, with recommendations, procedures and instruments gained from international experience.
The proposed process is divided into 4 consecutive phases represented by:
- Preliminary information analysis;
- Execution of inspections/checks;
- Preparation of report;
- Review of recommendations with client.
