The problem
This project concerns the development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that incorporate driver/rider state, situational/ environmental context through the use of HMI and automatic guidance systems for different types of vehicles: conventional and electric cars, trucks, buses, motorbikes.
Fatigue, drowsiness, stress and distraction while driving are behaviours that can lead to critical situations and accidents.
Our approach
The use of Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS) and automated safety functions, together with driver status monitoring, can compensate for human errors and avoid collisions, improve safety and driving comfort. To achieve this, a holistic approach has been adopted in ADAS&ME, that considers automated driving in conjunction with information on driver state.
