The problem
Owing to the number of road accidents, every year Italy is subject to very high social and human costs, which at European level is estimated at about 2% of the EU’s GDP. In the Lazio Region, road accidents record their highest values in the main towns and provinces of Rome, Frosinone, and Latina, where the municipalities are concentrated in which 1.9 accidents per 1,000 inhabitants occur. The mortality rate reaches more critical values (over 9.9 deaths every road accident) in the provinces of Frosinone and Latina.
Our approach
As road safety experts we are working together with the Municipality of Anagni for the preparation of a Municipal Road Safety Plan (PUSS, Piano Comunale della Sicurezza Stradale) to improve the road safety level in the urban area and associated actions.
In line with what is foreseen by the Guidelines of the National Road Safety Plan, the project aims at the structural improvement of the ability to govern road safety by means of an effective identification and scheduling of interventions and initiatives for the reduction of risk factors on municipal roads. Among such actions, the project foresees training for technicians and decision-makers.
