The problem
In 2018 the Municipality of Latina implemented policies for the improvement of the local public transport services (TPL, Trasporto Pubblico Locale) to promote increased forms of sustainable mobility. Such policies led to the need for an appropriate review and updating of the fares, also with respect to national dynamics and trends.
Our approach
The approach consisted of three steps:
- Overview of the current state of the TPL;
- Analysis of benchmarks between Latina and other Italian towns on the number and typologies of fares offered to users;
- Proposal for the optimisation of the current fare system on the basis of the analysis of benchmarks foreseeing the introduction of a diversification of travel tickets and the adjustment of the present fares to the average of the values found in the Italian cities analysed.
