The Regional Council of Lazio has approved the Plan for Ports of Regional Economic Interest, marking the conclusion of a long and structured procedural process aimed at implementing a new development model for the coastal areas of Lazio.
The Plan — which saw the active involvement of the Research Centre for Transport and Logistics (CTL) of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in drafting the strategic document — foresees the creation of seven new ports in the municipalities of Tarquinia, Montalto di Castro, Ladispoli, Ponza, Latina (Rio Martino), Terracina, and Formia, each designed to accommodate approximately 300 to 500 berths.
The approval of the Port Plan thus represents a key milestone in the implementation of the measures needed to promote the Blue Economy across the Lazio Region, with clear positive impacts on both the economic and tourism sectors. This achievement is also aligned with our broader vision of a new, sustainable growth model that today increasingly involves the entire mobility system.
