Exciting news came from the FERSI’s General Assembly, held at KTI in Budapest (Hungary) on 7-8 November 2024. The members of the association unanimously elected our Chairman, Prof. Luca Persia, as their new President.
As a result, the FERSI’s secretariat moved to CTL, through the appointment of our expert, Sevket Oguz Kagan Capkin, as Secretary of the association. For the next three years (2024-2027), the Research Centre for Transport and Logistics of Sapienza University of Rome will drive the Executive Board in a wide variety of activities directed at both national and European level, including:
- proposing road safety topics for European and national research agendas
- organising seminars and meetings on road safety issues and road safety research
- identifying opportunities for international cooperation in road safety research
- encouraging the international exchange of junior and senior road safety researchers
- recommending evidence-based road safety solutions to relevant authorities
- contributing to expert meetings and conferences, representing the road safety component
- providing researchers and policy makers with up-to-date (links to) road safety information.
As FERSI President, Prof. Persia succeeds Rob Eenink (SWOV, Netherlands) who had covered this role since 2018. The other Board members were also elected unanimously: Vice-President Jindřich Frič (CDV, Czechia), and members João Cardoso (LNEC, Portugal), Jean-François Gaillet (Vias Institute, Belgium) and Evangelia Gaitanidou (CERTH-HIT, Greece).
