Master Course in Transport Planning: second semester at the start

Road Safety

The lessons will be organised in three different classes and led by a blended learning-based approach

The second semester of Master Course in Transport Planning at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Travaux Publics in Yaoundé (Cameroon) kicked off on 18th July 2023, with the lesson focused on “Transport System planning; Sustainability of TS, variables and measurement”.

The program of the second semester includes three different classes:

  • “Elaboration of transport and mobility policies” (18th July – 19th September 2023), composed by 9 lessons lasting 4 hours each (for a total of 36 hours) and centring on the infrastructural measures and management of the policies, as well as its pricing, the city logistics, attitudes and behaviour; use of databases and planning tools for urban, regional and sectorial documents; supporting methods and tools for innovation and future trends; exercises and evaluating activities.
  • “Methodology of scientific research” (19th July – 13th September 2023), consisting of 9 lessons lasting 2 hours each (for a total of 18 hours) and dealing with the steps to conduct research (choice of topics, types of problem, variables and hypothesis) and literature review (objectives, tools, citations and bibliographic norms), as well as an overview of quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • “Collection and exploitation of transportation data” (20th July – 21st September 2023), likewise organised in 9 lessons lasting 4 hours each (for a total of 36 hours) and concerning the various types of transportation data (freight, logistics, road safety, public transport and micro-mobility data); the new data collection technologies (big data, FCD, artificial intelligence), trends and innovative approaches; basic statistical concepts and its application to transport; practical exercise and case studies applications (AfCFTA and Lazio Region).

The lessons will be mainly led in online mode by our road safety experts Sergio Celestino, Davide Shingo Usami, Brayan González-Hernández, Sevket Oguz Kagan Capkin and Roberto Carroccia, but they will also benefit from the contribution of our consultant, Fondzenyuy Stephen Kome, for in-presence lessons at ENSTP in Yaoundé.
