On 22–23 September 2025, the SmartUrbanity project officially began its journey with the first General Assembly held in Rome, Italy, marking the start of an ambitious collaboration dedicated to shaping the future of sustainable, connected, and inclusive cities.
Hosted by the project’s Italian partners, the two-day meeting brought together representatives from all consortium members — including CTLup, which plays an active role in several project activities — to review the status of the Work Packages (WPs), define the next operational steps, and discuss the challenges ahead.
A key moment of the meeting was the presentation of the project’s five pilot sites — Rome (Italy), Karlsruhe (Germany), Izmir (Türkiye), Lyon (France), and Thurgau (Switzerland) — each chosen to test innovative approaches to urban mobility, digital transition, and citizen engagement.
The agenda also included a technical visit in Rome’s Municipality XII, one of the pilot sites, offering valuable insights into local infrastructure, mobility services, and planning priorities. This on-site exploration represented a crucial step toward adapting and implementing the “15-minute city” concept to the area’s specific characteristics.
The Rome meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative journey among European partners, united by a common goal: to rethink urban life through innovation, cooperation, and sustainability.
